lark ellen farm
Lark Ellen Farm makes vegan pâté and grainless granola bites from sprouted nuts and seeds. Sprouting is what makes the product special, and I wanted to show this in the illustrated semi-circle on the front of the bag. I drew the nuts, seeds, berries, and sprouts by hand and refined it in the computer for several rounds. This project has been featured in The Dieline.
Design Process

Initial Sketch
This was the first sketch I made in developing the front of the bag. I wanted to show exuberant sprouting nuts and seeds, to help people understand the product.

Tighten it up
Then I wanted to make sure the shape was actually round, so I drew a circle in Illustrator, printed it out, and laid tracing paper over it, and re-drew the design.

Closer to finished
Then I made the lines thicker, and I realized I could have a window to complete the circle. That would let people see the product, of course, and would connect the illustration more directly to the product.
